NGO or Non-Governmental Organization is a non-profit group that works for social welfare, independently of the government. There are various NGOs in Coimbatore focusing on issues, such as human rights, education, environment, healthcare, poverty, and upliftment of a particular community or society. They operate on a variety of levels, including local, regional, national, and international. Good Shepherd Health Education Centre and Dispensary (GSHEC) is a Non-Governmental Organization situated in Karamadai, Coimbatore District of Tamil Nadu. It has been working for the welfare and upliftment of poor and marginalized people through various Sustainable Development Programs.

The Centre was founded in 1977 and initially focused solely on the health needs of the people. As the years went by, it widened its services. It primarily focuses on Rural Development programs, with a particular focus on women and children.
